SUPPORTERS GROUPS

The gallery could not function without the aid of volunteer groups, who help in many ways including fundraising.

The Friends of the Regional Gallery number over 300 members from a wide range of backgrounds, all of whom are united by a love of art and a desire to help its development in our region. Likewise the Volunteer Gallery Guides play a vital role in helping visitors to come to an understanding and love of art.

The 2008/9 President of the Friends of the Orange Regional Gallery is Kenneth Dryland

with a Committee comprising  Sue Bentley, Rowan Jaffray,  Loretta Thurtell, Bernie  Huxtable, Ellen Fisher, Gloria Gilmore, Julie Skovgaard, Bev Duncan, John Coxhill, Rosslyn Kemp, Courtney Hawke, Margaret Hertel, and Alan Sisley.

For your convenience there is a form for membership attached which you may print and post with your subscription, which is just $25 per annum for an individual and $30 for a family membership.

Above is a terrific painting by  Rodney Pople " La Scuola Grande Venice" 2007 a work purchased for the Gallery by the Orange Regional Arts Foundation, a philanthropic trust set up to encourage development of the Art Gallery, Theatre and Library in Orange.  The most recent painting purchase by ORAF is the Rodney Pople painting, although in 2009 Orange Regional Arts Foundation have joined with the Friends of the Gallery in funding the commission of a new public sculpture by young architect/artist Chris Fox, which was erected in February 2009.

The Gallery has a long term project to put sculptures along the green belt between the Gallery and Moulder Park (Orange has over 100 public parks and gardens). The works in the gallery environs by Richard Goodwin, Chris Fox, Ian Marr and Bronwyn Oliver are just the first of many we hope will be commissioned over the next thirty or so years to create this planned sculpture walk, which should be a tourist attraction in its own right. These important works were funded by the Friends of the Orange Regional Gallery, the Orange Regional Arts Foundation, with matching assistance from ArtsNSW. The Bronwyn Oliver work is illustrated on the homepage. For further information click here.
